Oil burner is constantly circulating. Repair people out 3 times...say everything is working fine...thermostate

is off...temp in home is 73...this happens on a weekly basis..I manually turn the burner off...the repair men come...they have replaced wires for thermostate, aqua stat box, and last time said they couldn't find anything wrong. After you turn the burner off for several hours and turn it back on, it seems to stop the constant heating...then after it runs for a week or so, starts all over again. Heater is winter/summer hook up with 2 zones. When I am having this problem the circulator seems to constantly hum.Oil burner is constantly circulating. Hmmm..Sounds to me like you have solenoid operated valves in the system that open and close when heat is called for. The circulator pump SHOULD run continuously in this case, and the valves should open and close on the thermostats. If you have two zones, then you should have two thermostats.

Those zone valves have a manual override on them so you can open them by hand, but if you do, they will be open forever and cause continuous heat. Check them out. There is a small lever on the side where the wires connect. If the lever is down, the valve has been manually overriden and it will supply constant heat to your house. Make sure that lever is in the upright position. (I think it might say ';Auto'; and ';Open'; on the valve, make sure it's in the ';Auto'; position.)Oil burner is constantly circulating. Did they replace the thermostat? It could be your problem.

We need to replace ours because it was doing the same

thing but it is an older style thermostat.
I'm having trouble with your language. It sounds like you have an oil fired boiler, but what do you mean ';oil burner is constantly circulating';? An oil burner 'burns' - there's nothing to circulate. Do you mean the oil pump constantly operates? Do you have a two line oil supply? Do you mean the boiler pump is constantly circulating?

Email if you wish.
