The oil pan on my 97 Taurus is rusting with a small leak can it be patched and save a 500 repair to replace it

Yes you can save 500 bux! Go to your local junk yard and have them remove the oil pan that you need from a junker. That should cost you about 50-80 bux.You can either remove the pan yourself and put the good one on (make sure you go to an auto parts store and by some blue devil sealer) or you can have one of the local guys in your 'hood put it on for a few bux. So instead of paying 500, it could cost you from85-200 bux. Good luck!!The oil pan on my 97 Taurus is rusting with a small leak can it be patched and save a 500 repair to replace it
if it has actually rusted through, which would seem unusual as it is full of oil which inhibits rust, then it probably is not structurally sound enough to be repaired. u might go to local welding shop and ask them to take a look at it and give it a spot weld. The oil pan on my 97 Taurus is rusting with a small leak can it be patched and save a 500 repair to replace it
you can try welding it , be sure to clean it before you weld with a low temp welder
You have nothing to lose trying it. Try JB Weld products.
i had a pin hole leak and got repair kit from advance...i drilled hole bigger/size the directions said and put in rubber plug...it has wing nut in middle...tightened it and no problem for 6 yrs...
you can give a shot at welding it. their is nothing to lose. if it doesnt work, then you will have to go with the 500 dollar replacement.
