Can a cracked firebox inside an oil fired furnace be repaired?

Its an older Columbia furnace. Can a cracked firebox inside an oil fired furnace be repaired?
No technician will attempt this as it would be a liability if someone ended up with carbon monoxide poisoning.

Replacing the heat exchanger or furnace is the way it is done. And only replace the heat exchanger if under warranty otherwise it is not feasible.

It could be repaired but who will accept the liability? Can a cracked firebox inside an oil fired furnace be repaired?
If it is of a cast material it can be brazed. If constructed of sheet metal it can be welded. The big question is WHY did it crack? The metal is old and fatigued? Over heated? Was hot and water got onto it in some way? Was it mounted properly or possibly a problem with the mount caused it to be stressed? Are both the nozzle and ignition system working properly delivering a smooth flame or is it missing, sputtering and/or causing small explosions in the box? Because a failure in the fire box could be catastrophic, all care should be given if you decide to make a repair. Try to find out why so you can fix that problem first and not have a repeat failure and make sure the person doing the work knows their business. It may be prudent to ask what happens if it fails after the repair and burns your house down will your homeowners insurance use that as an excuse to deny payment? They may be fine with a repair if they're made aware and are allowed to inspect and sign off on it.
Repairing a heat exchanger is not recommended, the safe way to go is to either replace the heat exchanger(if it's available) or to replace the furnace.
furnace blows hot air. 1 crack is just the first %26amp; more to come

boiler pumps hot water. iron boiler may be sealed with chemical treat ment
It's more than likely that it is cast iron and cast iron is hard to repair.
