Repair cost engine oil leak?

My 98 toyota avalon has been leaking lots of oil, Have to put a quart or 2 in every week almost. Repair man said found leak at trans line and his solution is to replace RH valve cover gasket, does this sound correct, can trans line leak engine oil, and does anyone know how much this might cost. Thanks for any information.Repair cost engine oil leak?
Nope the engine and trans takes two different kinds of oil so why would it be using one ya feel me. and where is it leaking oil from this is and easy diy. It is probably the valve cover gasket or the oil pan gasket probably no more than 60 minus the oil.Repair cost engine oil leak?
Two quarts a week should be an obviouse identifier, I would get a second opinion just for the heck of it, but do not give any info about the previous diagnosis. I would also recomend checking your pcv valve, it ventalates your engine from positve pressure from blow by, oil leaks will occur at least resistance if the valve is clogged.
Compared to a lot of engine repairs, this is a cheap one. Perhaps the valve cover is leaking OVER the trans line. Either way, you can probably just tighten down the valve cover a little bit. Most Asian VC gaskets don't need replacing, just tightening. Get another opinion. Drive the car to a quicky lube, and ask them if they can spot an oil leak. Get their advice, anyways. Many oil leaks can be traced to the fact that the wrong oil is being used in the engine. Sludge forms, and clogs up the works. Sometimes, the oil pressure relief valve will not drop the oil pressure when it is supposed to, and oil will leak from nearly any loose orifice. De-sludging MAY solve this. Smart people will read their owner's manual and use ONLY the oil that meets Toyota specifications listed there. This means Mobil One, ELF, Pennzoil, Wolf's Head. Some oils made by Castrol meet the spec's, too. Asian cars require JASO specs! Good luck!!!
