Yes , and should be!If oil is coming out of the power steering cylinder on a 1999 528i bmw can it be removed and repaired?
Normally the power steering cylinder can be resealed but is very time involved and parts are normally worn out with in the cylinder. Better off with a rebuilt, which will carry a warranty, and also these part is a safety item on your car. So I would not take the chance of a sub standard repair. Also check all hoses, and connections, seals, and other components involving the steering system, and use the proper approved fluids for that vehicle.
;you can remove the power steering unit and have it rebuilt. Things wear out over time and just new new seals, bearings, and gaskets. My suggestion is take it to a reputable mechanic that can repair it, and warranty the work in the event that the repair doesn't hold.
