There's no apparant reason for the crack. It looks like there are 3 sections with gaskets. The crack is located on the center section. It would appear as though the entire engine would need to be disassembled to replace the center section. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. How to repair hairline crack leaking oil Honda CRF70. Looks like the center bottom of the engine.?
I would drain the oil. Clean the crack out liberally with brake clean, even spray some down inside the motor so it will leak out the same way the oil does. Grind the crack out in a little V shape. grind the surrounding area to achieve a mechanical bond. Then use an epoxy made for aluminum. I am assuming the case is aluminum! Or JB weld. Let it cure for a day or so, leave the drain plug out to make sure all the brake clean evaporates. Refill and run it, what have you got to loose? If it doesn't work you are out some labor and about $20. If it does then your good. Even if it only last a year then you can replace it.
I am sure someone will say it won't work. I speak from experience I have done it to my 91 Yamaha 225 enduro bike. Did it once when I first got it. and then again about 6 years later as it started to leak again. This summer will be 5 years on the second time. How to repair hairline crack leaking oil Honda CRF70.
