Why do we have to pay for oil refineries repairs, causing us to have to pay more for gas, I guess no insurance

It is called Capitalism M'am.

When a company has a factory, they want to make a profit. If their factory needs repairs, and the demand for their product permits, they will raise prices to provide the money to make capital improvements.

Don't get me wrong, I think the big oil companies are greedy hogs milking the situation for every penny they can grab. But there is nothing shady or illegal about it.

Want to know who I blame?

We the people of the United States of America, especially the environmental crusaders who have blocked the building of more oil refineries for years.

IIRC, there has not been a new oil refinery built in this country in over 20 years. The refineries are old, and wearing out. They can no longer maintain full production capacity 100% of the time, so even if crude oil were going for $30.00 a barrel, we'd be facing gasoline shortages due to production capacity.

We need to allow oil companies to build modern new refineries, and we need to encourage development of alternative fuel sources in order to break the stranglehold OPEC and the big oil companies have on not only the American Economy, but the world's economy.
